The sighting: Former First Lady Michelle Obama posted an Instagram video about her experience executive-producing the new Netflix show The Later Daters. Obama wore a colorful shirtdress and a chic pair of earrings for the occasion.

The jewels: Obama is wearing the Column Emerald Cut Drop Earrings from V by Laura Vann.

The 18K yellow gold vermeil style, listed online for $184, features a pair of emerald-cut white topaz stones each suspended from a column-shaped bead of green Indian agate.

The trends: Sleek and understated with a hint of movement, these earrings incorporate the trends of statement studs, green gems, bezel settings and elongated stones.

What do we think? These earrings are great! I love the juxtaposition of the smooth agate columns with the faceted topaz, and the movement allowed by the way the topaz is suspended is such a great touch.

These earrings were a great pick for this dress, and they’d be a great pick for almost anything. I also think they strike an appropriate note for post-White House Michelle Obama: They’re stylish and from a small woman-owned brand, but not outrageously expensive.

On a personal note: I also own a couple of pairs of earrings from V by Laura Vann, and I find them quite impressive for their price point.

Judgment: 14/10 for an excellent earring choice.

Four Decades of Excellence: How Wilkerson Transformed a Jeweler's Retirement into Celebration

After 45 years serving the Milwaukee community, Treiber & Straub Jewelers owner Michael Straub faced a significant life transition. At 75, the veteran jeweler made a personal decision many business owners understand: "I think it's time. I want to enjoy my wife with my grandchildren for the next 10, 15 years." Wilkerson's expertise transformed this major business transition into an extraordinary success. Their comprehensive approach to managing the going-out-of-business sale created unprecedented customer response—with lines forming outside the store and limits on how many shoppers could enter at once due to fire safety regulations. The results exceeded all expectations. "Wilkerson did a phenomenal job," Straub enthuses. "They were there for you through the whole thing, helped you with promoting it, helping you on day-to-day business. I can't speak enough for how well they did." The partnership didn't just facilitate a business closing; it created a celebratory finale to decades of service while allowing Straub to confidently step into his well-earned retirement.
