The sighting: Actress Millie Bobby Brown recently posted some cute Instagram photos of herself at a lovely outdoor location with her husband and the caption “my forever wedding date.” Brown wore an understated cocktail dress in dusky purple and some very cool pearl jewels for the occasion.

The trends: These sleek, minimalist statement styles are such a good example of the kind of outside-the-box pearl that’s wildly popular right now. Today’s consumer loves to subvert expectations, and there’s no type of jewelry more strongly associated with tradition than the pearl.

Millie Bobby Brown might have started out as the little telekinetic kid from Stranger Things, but she’s grown up unto a glamorous and popular actress with more than 65 million Instagram followers. That’s right, Eleven is a Gen Z style icon.

What do we think? This is great! This is the kind of chic, understated cocktail dress that would have looked great with a classic strand of pearls and big pearl button earrings, which is exactly why it’s so fun to see it worn instead with pearls of a completely different kind.
