The sighting: Soulful crooner of sexy slow jams, Usher Raymond, has a new toy and he wants everyone to know about it. The R&B legend posted photos of himself on social media with the caption “Who the hell else has a diamond toothpick?…I’ll wait.”

The jewels: Does Usher really have a diamond toothpick? The answer to this question appears to be yes. Jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche has claimed credit for the unusual jewel, posting it on her own Instagram account with the cheeky caption, “Usher we’d always pick you.”

We don’t know much beyond the fact that the diamond toothpick is real and Aiche is the one who made it happen. Oh, and that Usher loves it – he’s already posted several photos of himself with the sparkling accessory.

This isn’t the first time Aiche has created a special jewel for the singer. She also made the sentimental portrait ring that Usher wears in memory of his dearly departed grandmother.

What do we think? Diamond-encrusted dental hygiene accessories are unlikely to take off among any population other than Usher’s immediate peers. They’re very fun to see, but in terms of actual inventory, they wouldn’t be relevant to 99.999% of retail stores.

This is a badass and very swag-filled move for an ultra-rich celebrity like Usher, but no one else could pull it off. Nor should they…there’s a good reason that toothpicks are one-time-use. Let’s hope he sanitizes his sparkling accessory very thoroughly if he ever does put it to use for a toothpick’s intended purpose.

Judgement: 11/10 for an object d’art that is equal parts delightful and ridiculous.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
