The sighting: Superstar and mogul Rihanna recently posed for Perfect Magazine. The glamorous shoot featured a lot of jewelry, but there was one element that stood about above all others: a pair of custom-made diamond eyebrows.

Yes, you read that correctly. Diamond! Eyebrows!

The jewels: Rihanna is wearing a pair of bespoke diamond eyebrows created by Swiss brand SARTORO Genève.

The dazzling pair of diamond eyebrows feature a swirling, abstract floral pattern made from 434 round diamonds, according to the brand’s Instagram.

I’m dying to know what one would charge for a pair of diamond eyebrows, but sadly there are no similar pieces listed on SARTORO Genève’s website to give us a sense of what the MSRP for a style like this could be.

I would also love to know what the eyebrows are made of besides diamonds – is there a delicate metal backing? Are the diamonds held together with wax or some other soft material? Or were the stones simply stuck to Rihana’s skin in that pattern?

Rihanna also wore two diamond rings from SARTORO Genève’s Eclat collection for the photoshoot, but her eyebrows stole the show.

The trends: I think this one is too niche to translate to a consumer trend.

It’s possible we could see a spike in interest in similar styles in adhesive crystal, but that feels more like a beauty trend than a jewelry one.

What do we think? This is exactly the kind of spectacularly opulent weirdness that I love in celebrity jewelry. I’m dying to know whose idea these were: did the brand already have the style in mind? Did Rihanna’s stylist request it? Or did the superstar herself come up with the idea and commission it?

Either way, it’s gloriously bizarre and so much fun.

Judgement: 18/10 for high end eyebrow extravagance.

Wilkerson Testimonials

Cleaning House for a New Generation

At Komara Jewelers in Canfield, Ohio, Wilkerson handled all the aspects of its retirement sale just as owner Bob Komara’s children took over day-to-day operations of the business. They’d used other companies before, says Brianna Komara-Pridon, but they didn’t compare. “If we had used Wilkerson then, it would have been so much better.”
