The sighting: Actress Sandra Oh attended the 2022 Emmy Awards in a luminous, plunging purple pantsuit with sequins for miles and a matching jacket. Instead of choosing understated jewels to pair with the bold outfit, Oh went for dazzling Cathy Waterman designs.

The jewels: The actress is wearing three beautiful pieces of jewelry by Cathy Waterman: the designer’s platinum Wheat Side cocktail ring with an openwork geometric design and kunzite center stone, a pair of Blackened Bamboo earrings featuring delicate platinum vines adorned with diamond leaves and suspending large pink morganite drops.

The third Cathy Waterman jewel is more subtle, but no less lovely: a platinum and diamond checkerboard ring. It’s a wide diamond band with alternating openings that create a checkerboard effect.

Judge the Jewels: Sandra Oh Is a High Note in Year of Otherwise Boring Emmy’s Jewelry

What do we think? If I didn’t make it clear enough in the headline, I found this year’s Emmy’s jewelry to be underwhelming. Not that there’s anything wrong with classic diamond line necklaces, subdued diamond drops, or an endless parade of shimmering diamond cocktail rings…but as someone who watches these awards primarily for the jewelry, I was disappointed.

There were a few other standouts: I enjoyed Sarah Snook’s Irene Neuwirth jewels, Lisa Ann Walter’s gold Neil Lane earrings, and Reese Witherspoon’s Tiffany & Co necklace. But Sandra Oh was my favorite by far. The color! The interesting design! The panache with which she wore these pieces! I also love that the earrings and necklace go well together but are not strictly matching. It’s fresh and creative and delightful all around.

Judgement: 17/10 for actually interesting jewels on a snoozeworthy red carpet night.

Looking for a Seamless Sale? Call Wilkerson

After almost 60 years in business, Breakiron Jewelers in Erie, Pennsylvania, was closing its doors. And the store’s owner, Linda Breakiron, was ready for it. She had run the store as its sole owner since the beginning of the millennium and was looking forward to a change. Of course, she called Wilkerson. Breakiron talked to other jewelers who had used Wilkerson and was satisfied with their response. “They always had positive feedback,” she recalls. With the sales, marketing and even additional inventory that Wilkerson provided, Breakiron insists she could never have accomplished her going-out-of-business sale without Wilkerson’s help. She’s now ready for the journey ahead, but looking back, she’d be sure to recommend Wilkerson. “They just made the whole process very seamless.”
