(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, NY — The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) has announced that it will give its Stanley Schechter Award to Alan Zimmer, President and CEO of REEDS Jewelers, at its annual luncheon on Friday, March 14, 2025, at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.

Alan Zimmer is the President and CEO of REEDS Jewelers, leading the company’s evolution into a premier destination for fine jewelry and luxury timepieces. Under his leadership, REEDS has blended high-touch experiential retail with innovative digital commerce through Reeds.com.
A recognized leader in the industry, Alan was inducted into the National Jewelers Retail Hall of Fame in 1991. He was the recipient of the American Gem Society’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Alan has served on numerous industry and philanthropic boards, including Jewelers Vigilance Committee, and Jewelers of America, where he was Chairman from 2003-2005; Jewelers for Children, where he was Treasurer from 2016-2019, and Chairman from 2019-2021. He currently serves on the Jewelers for Children Board of Directors. Alan has served on the Jewelers Security Alliance board since 2018, and is currently their Chairman of the Board.
Alan’s dedication to philanthropy is deeply embedded in REEDS’ culture. Honoring the legacy of its founders, the company actively supports organizations such as the Zimmer Cancer Institute at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and many other charitable organizations.

Founder of Honora Industries, Stanley was a jewelry industry icon. In addition to his extraordinary work in the pearl sector, Stanley is well-known for his 50+ years of dedication to maintaining ethics and integrity in this industry. Stanley was a lifetime member of the JVC and a member of the JVC Board from the 1960s to 2000. JVC proudly established the Stanley Schechter Award in 2002 to honor Stanley and remember his legacy and important contributions to the JVC. Recipients of the Stanley Schechter Award embody Stanley’s characteristics and values: leadership, integrity, and passion for elevating the jewelry community’s reputation in the US and worldwide. The award will be presented by Joel Schechter, Stanley’s son.
