The flashing neon lights, the energy and the pulsating sounds of ’70s and early ’80s disco continue to influence designers in crafting jewelry that captures this time period in all of its glittering glory. The metallic strobing disco ball that spun from ceilings of the dance venue in the iconic movie Saturday Night Fever and the famed Mahattan’s Studio 54, as well as other discos throughout the U.S., has inspired a slew of spherical shaped jewels with sparkling diamonds or gleaming gold. Other textural influences in jewelry that evoke the feeling of the time are being revamped by today’s innovative designers.
