(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, NY — Lewis Heyman, Co-President and Head Stone Buyer, retired at the end of June 2025, following his 28th anniversary at Oscar Heyman, his family’s colored-gemstone fine jewelry business. Lewis extended the brand’s gemstone relationships to include gem cutters from across the globe, including from Australia, Brazil, Bangkok, Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Germany, India, Japan, Sri Lanka, and Switzerland.

Tom Heyman, President of Oscar Heyman, commented, “We are grateful for Lewis’s unwavering commitment to excellence and the connections he has developed with the most reliable and trustworthy gem dealers around the world. Lewis will be missed, and his enthusiasm lives on in our gem acquisition team.”

Lewis joined the Peace Corps out of college and then received his Masters from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. His love of travel and global connections served him well when he joined Oscar Heyman’s gem sourcing team in 1997. Lewis traveled abroad multiple times each year in search of premium quality gemstones worthy of the brand’s extraordinary reputation. He managed and worked closely with a team of gemstone experts to ensure the very highest quality of every stone purchased for use in Oscar Heyman fine jewelry.

Lewis reflected, “I enter retirement knowing that Oscar Heyman remains one of the finest jewelry brands in the world with a truly exceptional staff.”

Founded in 1912 by brothers Oscar, Nathan and Harry Heyman, Oscar Heyman remains a family run business. Lewis, who is Harry’s grandson, has worked alongside his uncle, brother, and numerous other relatives during his long tenure.

Throughout his career, Lewis has been engaged in many industry groups, including the 24 Karat Club and both AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) and NYGA (New York Gemstone Association) as the primary representative from Oscar Heyman.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
