“MY LOVE. MY life. My Family. My Future” is what Lindsay Lohan’s Instagram post said, announcing her engagement to her boyfriend of two years, Badar Shammas. She tagged Shammas in the post and hashtagged a diamond engagement ring emoji.
The stunning engagement ring is a Harry Winston beauty. The diamond looks to be a cushion cut set with melee diamonds all around the shank of the somewhat delicate band (but, the center diamond could also be any of the square brilliant cuts — It’s a little difficult to tell from the photo, and Harry Winston has not yet replied to our request for more information).
Best known as an actress for her roles as a young girl in The Parent Trap and teenager in Mean Girls, Lohan was engaged once before briefly to Egor Tarabasov in 2016 with a different square cut ring. The photos posted Sunday show a couple that looks deeply in love and overjoyed, as well as a ring that is drool-worthy.
As is often the case with celebrity engagement rings, there have been articles speculating on the weight, cut and metal of the ring. On Page Six, Apeksha Kothari, COO of Rare Carat, noted, “The square-shaped center stone of Lohan’s ring is estimated to be approximately six carats. With high color and high clarity, I would estimate the retail value at a cool quarter of a million dollars – $250,000.”
Us Magazine quoted Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro, as stating that the diamond looks to be around four to five carats. “I’d estimate the value to be near $150,000 depending on the quality of the stone,” he said.
In April 2021, I wrote about Harry Winston’s bridal couture grouping in a story for Forbes: “Harry Winston is legendary for the choice of diamonds and the thoughtfulness that goes into each finished jewel.” This ring certainly bears out that notion.
Square cut engagement rings, including emerald, cushion, radiant and princess cuts, continue to rise in popularity, and this is a trend that might take off even more after Lohan’s photos.
