(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Mark Berman announces the launch of One by Mark Owen. Precious metals and exotic gemstones and other rarities are crafted into the unforgettable, wearable art that has arrived in time for the holiday season. The impetus for each design in the line available at select retailers comes from a combination of Berman’s personal experiences, and from the history and meaning of the materials they are made with.
A milky, purple sapphire ring, an Oregon sunstone pendant, earrings made from Brazilian watermelon tourmalines, and a men’s ring adorned with a coin recovered from a Mediterranean shipwreck are among the unique creations in the One by Mark Owen collection. Every gemstone or diamond is hand-picked by Berman, often chosen from its rough state. Each finished item is accompanied by a custom inspiration card, alluding to its significance.
Berman, a jewelry industry veteran, began his career working in his family’s retail store in Central New Jersey. He has been designing and manufacturing jewelry since 2004 with his full-service wholesale jewelry manufacturing company, Icon Creations. He earned a Graduate Jeweler Gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America and studied jewelry design and manufacturing at NYC’s Fashion Institute of Technology. The unveiling of the new brand is the culmination of over 25 years in the business.
“This has been a dream of mine for over a decade. The concept grew out of dialogue I’ve had with other jewelers who were seeking something different. Listening to their feedback and studying fashion trends fueled my desire to create something truly unique and special,” notes Berman.
Berman’s 8-year-old son, Owen, is integral to the creative process. “I developed my love for gemstones from my dad, and I’m proud to share my passion with the next generation.” Owen shares his father’s eye for art and has amassed a sizable collection of gemstones over the years. “Many aspects of every piece from color combinations to the inspirations, are a collaboration between us and our unique experiences.”
