Mayors Opens Flagship Store in Merrick Park

(PRESS RELEASE) MIAMI — Leading luxury jewelry and timepiece retailer Mayors opened its first new flagship store in Merrick Park this past weekend as part of the second stage of the retailer’s relaunch investment. By relocating to a more prominent location within the outdoor mall and being the exclusive multi-brand luxury watch retailer in Merrick Park, Mayors has plans to build upon its position as the #1 destination for jewelry and timepieces in the Southeastern United States.

Merrick Park is the first Mayors store designed by Michael Neumann Associates (MNA) and will set the principles and aesthetics for the renovation of all the stores in Mayors’ portfolio. MNA previously designed the much-heralded Watches of Switzerland stores in Soho and Hudson Yards, New York. The 4,700 sq. ft. open plan layout is divided into three main spaces by screens of ebonized wood and shimmering brass, a leitmotif of the dark façade. From the moment you walk through its doors, one will find a spacious open plan area, easily navigable and one that provides a glamorous setting for all shoppers. Stylish Calacatta marble flooring, pale gray carpeting, and crisp white plaster walls and ceilings define the airy, modern environment providing a glamorous setting for the customers.

The main areas will feature the two anchor watch brand–Rolex and Cartier–by the entrance, a flexible and changing retail space for Mayors jewelry and other watch brands and finally, a display space featuring Mayors Bridal and High Jewelry collections. In addition to these main areas, clients can enjoy a drink, relax and mingle in the concierge-style lounge that will offer Cuban coffee by one of Miami’s staples Cafe Versailles backed by a living vertical botanical garden located by the Mayors High Jewelry area.

“We are thrilled to be opening our new flagship store in Merrick Park, a premier shopping location in Coral Gables, Florida,” stated David Hurley, EVP of The Watches of Switzerland Group, US. “Mayors has an amazing history and heritage in Florida and as we invest in transforming the retail space of Mayors into a chic and contemporary space, our goal is to continue to develop a loyal customer and provide impeccable hospitality.”

Unique to the Florida market, Mayors will be introducing an exclusive jewelry collection in collaboration with Miami-born and New York-based jewelry designer, Pamela Love. Her contemporary designs are perfectly in tune with everything a young woman is looking for; exquisite and trendy jewelry which include spiked earrings, moon phase rings and more. Among additional exclusives that can be found only at the Merrick Park boutique include: a special capsule collection with Roberto Coin; the magnificent Regalia collection by the World’s foremost purveyor of cultured pearl jewelry, Mikimoto, will be flown in from Japan specifically for the flagship opening on display for a limited time only; stunning celebrity-worn jewelry by the likes of actress Kristen Stewart and model Irina Shayk from Messika; and exceptional merchandise under the Mayors High Jewelry Collections by premier jewelry partners, JB Star and Uneek.

In addition to a revamped look at their stores, the Mayors retail experience will be heightened with their incomparable selection of jewelry and timepieces including their own Bridal and Fine Jewelry collections and additional luxury timepieces from Breitling, IWC Schaffhausen, Omega, Tag Heuer and Tudor. Additionally, they are introducing collections that will be exclusive to the Merrick Park flagship boutique and will be available #OnlyAtMayors.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
