The jewelry at Met Gala 2022 glistened with ornate extravagance appropriate to the evening’s theme: “The Gilded Age.” The event was the second to celebrate the Costume Institute’s two-part exhibition. Part one, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” opened on Sept. 18, and “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” opens May 5.

It was a night of jewels that shone brightly in a modern take on the age in which New York’s elite dressed to impress and sometimes to excess.

Several trends revealed themselves during the evening.
Here are some that we spotted.

Hair Apparent

From regal tiaras to artful diamond extensions and antique style barrettes, jewels for the hair recalled earlier times, including the grand ornamentation that was part of society.

A Whiter Shade of Pearl

Broaching the Man Brooch

The man brooch has been trending for some time. Never did it look more appealing than on the men who turned the Gilded Age theme into one that was playful rather than full of pomp and circumstance.
