CHOKER NECKLACES HAVE been trending for quite a while, seen on the red carpet, runway shows and jewelry designers’ collections. Two that stood out recently were those that Michelle Williams and Jennifer Lawrence wore to different events.
They broke with the all yellow gold 1970s authentic and inspired looks we have been seeing and instead were crafted from gold, diamonds and rock crystal or enamel stations—which turned them into bold, eye-catching statement pieces.

Michelle Williams was draped in a one-shoulder white and black column gown at the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards, which provided a stunning backdrop for her Ana Khouri 18K gold and rock crystal and diamond accented choker. The interplay of the materials provided a sculptural feeling and a modern, edgy elegance. She wore it with an Ana Khouri briolette diamond ear cuff and a rock crystal, gold and diamond ring.

During the New York City premiere of “Die My Love” on November 1, 2025, Jennifer Lawrence appeared in a black Dior gown with an off-the-shoulder sculpted neckline and thigh-high slit. But what really stood out was the David Webb enamel and diamond necklace stationed with diamond buckles. Sotheby’s loaned her the piece for the evening — the auction house seems to have gotten in on the red carpet action of bejeweling Lawrence. The necklace will be offered at Sotheby’s Fine Jewelry auction on December 11, 2025, with an estimate of $25,000 to $35,000.

While these two chokers kicked November off with statement necklace energy (something retailers should be considering for the holiday season if they haven’t already), it’s also worth noting that Lawrence wore another standout Sotheby’s piece to the 2025 CFDA Fashion Awards: a vintage rock crystal, pearl and diamond brooch by Suzanne Belperron for René Boivin. This jewel will be offered in Sotheby’s A Legacy of Elegance: Jewels From An Exceptional Collection auction on December 8, 2025.

Rock crystal has been a material used by renowned jewelers throughout the 20th century and now is having a moment again with independent designers.
