New DRC Techno Instruments Protect Retailers

(PRESS RELEASE) Accurate, objective laboratory grown diamond detection is now less costly and more precise. Two new detection instruments from DRC Techno have been launched for jewelers, appraisers, and purchasers of loose or mounted diamonds.

The J-Mini, an over-the-counter instrument priced at $4499, can scan four rings, other jewelry, or loose stones in less than 60 seconds. The larger $9999 J-Detect can scan up to 15 rings at once on its 100 by 120 mm. (approximately 4 x 5 inch) platform. These machines complement DRC Techno’s J-Smart Pro machine, a high capacity commercial instrument priced at $22,499.

These instruments will be unveiled at the JIS Show in Miami Beach from February 9 through 11 and the HKTDC Hong Kong International Jewellery Show from March 4 through 8.

Identifying natural diamonds from HPHT and CVD laboratory grown diamonds is of critical importance in determining value and providing positive diamond identification. Although much different in value, laboratory grown diamonds are visually indistinguishable from natural stones.

“None of these devices require advanced gemological knowledge for their operation,” said David Skuza, the North American agent for the company. “Each machine has a viewing screen where laboratory grown diamonds as small as 0.003 carat have a green box surrounding them. Most other machines require a subjective judgement by the operator, but new developments by DRC Techno provide objective identification at an affordable cost. For the gemologist, each instrument also offers fluorescent, photoluminescent, and phosphorescent views.”

“The laboratory grown diamond marketplace is changing every day” said Skuza. “DRC Techno, with a base in Surat, India is ideally located. Their research and development team is constantly scouring the local and international marketplace for new laboratory grown diamond variations and developments. This information is integrated into software updates so operators can stay current with the changes in CVD and HTHP development.”

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
