(PRESS RELEASE) Nambé, the design brand known for its home décor, serveware, barware, and gift items, including women’s jewelry, announces a new partnership with jewelry designer Rémy Rotenier. The designer was tasked with creating a new men’s jewelry collection in 925 sterling silver.

Rotenier was inspired by Nambé’s origins in New Mexico, a state that he has also called home for more than 20 years. “Since I was a child, and particularly since I moved to New Mexico, the natural world has been a great inspiration to me,” says Rotenier. “From the endless rolling dunes of White Sands National Monument to the organic, liquid forms of limestone in Carlsbad National Park and the snowdrifts on the Sandia Mountains – which I can see from my studio – to the shifting cloud formations of the vast New Mexican skies, this place is constantly impressive to me.”

“I have endeavored to maintain that clarity of minimal, contemporary design rooted in this place, which Nambé embraces.  By reducing detail to the most communicative forms, Nambé has always created timeless objects, and I am thrilled to be carrying on that tradition with this line of jewelry for men.”

Because Nambé got its start when the mid-century modern design aesthetic was in its heyday, that design period was also on Rotenier’s mind. As any collector of modern furniture or décor can tell you, consumers are once again fascinated by that era’s designs. They were originally spurred on by cultural influencers such as Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, who interviewed guests on sleek mid-century modern chairs, and by the TV series Mad Men, which also helped by showing clothing, interiors, and jewelry that echoed the aesthetic.

The original mid-century modern jewelry designers, like their counterparts in other decorative arts, eschewed heavy, traditional jewelry and went sleek, with lots of curves, simplicity, geometry, and smooth designs, complemented by braided and twisting details.

As a result, these organic, curved, simple forms are celebrated in Nambé’s new contemporary men’s jewelry collection, too. From a men’s ring featuring braided detail on the band, to a softly geometric arrowhead pendant, and curved silver cuff, the collection will appeal to men looking for modern cool.

“I chose Rémy, because not only does he have a great reputation in the industry for the quality and beauty of his work, but he’s also a delight to be around,” says Mary L. Forté, Nambé New Business Development. “To be honest, once we met with him, everyone else we were considering fell away. He totally understands Nambé’s contemporary, clean lines. He did his research.”

The Nambé Men’s Jewelry Collection by Rémy Rotenier retails for between $150 - $600, and will be available at www.nambe.com this spring. The collection will be introduced to retail jewelers at the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) Spring Show, at the Marriott Marquis Houston and Houston Convention Center in Texas, from March 10-13, 2018.
