Antique and vintage jewelry continues to be on the upswing with retailers that have established estate departments, those opening new ones and others who have ventured out of modern design to only include jewelry with a previous life.

Different factors have fueled a desire for customers to purchase pieces from the past. These including the inherent value of jewels that have a backstory, provenance, sustainability, signed or expertly crafted and authentic to the time in which they were made and look as contemporary today.

Additionally international ready-to-wear designers are mining different time periods for inspiration and we are seeing more and more of Gen Z purchasing second hand luxury handbags and clothing, therefore it makes sense that they would also look towards purchasing jewelry in the same way.

The NYC Jewelry, Antique and Object Show from November 21-23, 2025 at the Metropolitan Pavilion will feature some of the leading international antique and vintage jewelers and is geared to both the retailer and end consumer. (Go here to purchase a ticket.) The following is a preview of pieces from different eras that are equally alluring, depending on personal style and tastes.
