Organizing Your Network Into A, B and C Lists
Party People Communication Talking Happiness Concept

HERE’S A GUIDE to organizing your contacts by business coach and consultant Andrea Nierenberg (author of Networking That Really Works)

INSTRUCTIONS

Organize your contacts into “A”, “B” and “C” lists. “A” is for close friends and associates, “B” is for associates, and “C” is for “touch-base” people.

Here’s how you handle each list:

C-listers:

  • Quarterly promotions from your store
  • A card or note once or twice a year
  • A holiday card in December
B-listers:
  • Meet for a meal, tea, or coffee at least twice a year
  •

  • Send at least six personal notes in a year
  • Holiday and premium gifts
A-listers:

  • Meet at least four times in a year
  •

  • Send special gifts and frequent personal notes
  • Actively look for and send them articles of interest
  • Look for opportunities to send them flowers, theater tickets or dinner certificates

Organizing your contacts in this manner will make it easier to stay in touch and never lose track of the people who matter.

Family Legacy, New Chapter: How Wilkerson Turns 89 Years of History Into Future Success

After 89 years of serving the Albany community, Harold Finkle Your Jeweler faced a pivotal decision. For third-generation owner Justin Finkle, the demanding hours of running a small business were taking precious time away from his young family. "After 23 years, I decided this was the time for me," Finkle explains. But closing a business with nearly nine decades of inventory and customer relationships isn't something easily managed alone. Wilkerson's comprehensive approach transformed this challenging transition into a remarkable success story. Their strategic planning handled everything from advertising and social media to inventory management and staffing — elements that would overwhelm most jewelers attempting to navigate a closing sale independently. The results speak volumes. "Wilkerson gave us three different tiers of potential goals," Finkle notes. "We've reached that third tier, that highest goal already, and we still have two weeks left of the sale." The partnership didn't just meet financial objectives—it exceeded them ahead of schedule.
