The annual Academy Awards ceremony, Hollywood’s big night of celebrating creativity in the film industry, is a night filled with drama and some of the brightest stars each year, often shining in the most sparkly of jewelry. For 2022, the Oscars brought back the elegance and excitement for which it is known. The jewelry was a stunning array of modern diamond and heritage pieces from the major houses as well as antique stunners. However, as jaw-dropping as the pieces that lit up the night were, they followed the same trends as the Screen Actors Guild, BAFTA and Critics Choice Awards. There used to be more of a delineation between the SAGs, which were more daring, and the Critics Choice Awards, which were less formal. But all of the presentations this season seemed to reflect a desire to dress up and recapture the glamour that has been missing from our lives for the past two years. In terms of jewelry, singular statement pieces are still stealing the spotlight on the red carpet.
