(PRESS RELEASE) LOS ANGELES, CA — Platinum jewelry dominated many of the evening’s most notable looks at the 98th Academy Awards, providing the foundation for extraordinary diamonds and rare gemstones worn by Hollywood’s leading talent. Known for its strength and naturally white color, platinum set the stage for statement necklaces, vintage designs and the growing trend of men’s brooches seen throughout the night.

A clear platinum trend emerged this year, with stylists selecting the metal more frequently than yellow gold for statement diamonds, brooches and high jewelry designs. From dramatic necklaces to increasingly popular men’s jewelry moments, platinum pieces brought both visual impact and versatility to one of fashion’s most watched stages.

In many ways, the red carpet continues to serve as a preview of broader jewelry trends that often influence what consumers ask for in stores in the months that follow. Historically, red carpet moments featuring platinum-set diamonds have often translated into increased consumer interest in platinum engagement rings and diamond jewelry at retail.

Celebrities including Teyana Taylor, Mikey Madison, Elle Fanning, Channing Tatum and Usher were among those wearing platinum pieces, underscoring the metal’s continued relevance across both women’s and men’s styling.

“Major cultural moments like the Academy Awards highlight the extraordinary craftsmanship behind high jewelry design,” said Jenny Luker, President of Platinum Guild International USA. “Platinum’s durability and naturally white color allow designers to create pieces that truly showcase diamonds and gemstones at their most brilliant.”

For retailers, moments like the Academy Awards often create an important selling opportunity. Jewelry seen on the red carpet frequently sparks consumer interest in diamond and bridal jewelry, particularly when platinum settings are prominently featured. When customers see platinum showcased in exceptional pieces worn by celebrities, it reinforces the metal’s prestige and desirability.

Retailers who highlight these red-carpet moments in-store and online can help translate that inspiration into sales, particularly when explaining why platinum continues to be favored for many of the world’s most exceptional diamonds and gemstones.

“As consumers become more informed and intentional about fine jewelry purchases, education becomes critical,” Luker added. “When sales associates can clearly explain the craftsmanship, durability and rarity of platinum, it gives customers confidence in choosing a piece that is meant to last for generations.”

Leading jewelry houses including Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Fred Leighton, Kwiat and Lorraine Schwartz all presented notable platinum creations during the evening, reinforcing platinum’s continued role as the ultimate setting for high jewelry.

Two trends stood out throughout the night: statement diamond necklaces and the continued rise of men’s brooches as a red-carpet accessory.

Several of the evening’s most talked-about looks featured platinum settings for statement diamonds and vintage high jewelry.
