The Plumb Club joins 14 other trade organizations.

(Press Release) The Plumb Club announced its membership in the U.S. Jewelry Council. The Plumb Club joins 14 other leading U.S. jewelry trade organizations to share and promote responsible business ethics and practices to maintain and enhance consumer confidence in the integrity and origins of jewelry in the U.S. market.

The Plumb Club’s acceptance into USJC is in step with its new strategic plan, which includes expanding its leadership role as the industry’s preeminent supply side organization. The Plumb Club seeks representation on the boards of select industry non-profits that advocate responsible sourcing and best business practices. As part of its strategy, The Plumb Club will require members to comply with responsible sourcing principles by either completing Responsible Jewellery Council certification or its own internal compliance requirements.

“In a time of great challenge, the USJC is the only Association whose members represent our major industry organizations. The Plumb Club is proud to be a member and we look forward to working with the USJC to further the needs of our industry,” said Victor Weinman, The Plumb Club Executive Committee and representative on the USJC Board.

“We’re thrilled to welcome The Plumb Club to the U.S. Jewelry Council and look forward to working together on the challenges facing our industry,” said Ronnie VanderLinden, USJC chair. “By combining their expertise, USJC members work together to address key issues, such as those of social, ethical and environmental importance that might impact consumer confidence in the U.S. jewelry industry. The Plumb Club will be a tremendous asset.”

Formed in 2015, the U.S. Jewelry Council consists of the leading jewelry trade organizations in the U.S., who have come together to present a collective voice on issues related to responsible and sustainable sourcing on the national and international levels.

Founded in 1983, The Plumb Club is a coalition of important suppliers spanning all facets of the jewelry, diamond and watch industries whose members account for a significant portion of the domestic fine jewelry market.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
