(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The Plumb Club presents a retail-learning opportunity provided by Platinum Guild International, USA (PGI). The virtual event will take place on Thursday, May 14 at 1pm Eastern and is free and open to the entire jewelry industry using the registration link noted below.

Join Kevin Reilly, senior vice president for PGI for this webinar filled with great insight on a new retailer opportunity. The webinar is titled, “Emerging Design, Responsible Sourcing, and Retail Trends: The New Platinum Opportunity”. Reilly will moderate a panel of industry veterans to help provide insights and practical ways that retailers can leverage these trends.

The webinar will be a discussion on the evolving platinum opportunity at retail. It will look at how emerging design direction, responsible sourcing and retail trends are creating new momentum for platinum jewelry. With PlatAfrica serving as an example of inspiring new design energy, panelists will discuss how fresh concepts, strong storytelling, and responsible mining can support retailer differentiation and spur customer engagement. The conversation will highlight what to watch for as the Las Vegas shows approach and how retailers can identify ideas and opportunities that feel both current and commercially relevant. The panel will consist of:

  • Kevin Reilly (Moderator): A jewelry veteran of over 30 years, Reilly is responsible for developing strategic partnerships for PGI at all levels of the supply chain, formulating programs to help them build their platinum jewelry business.
  • Fahmida Smith (Panelist): Smith leads PlatAfrica, a flagship jewelry design program in South Africa. She is a chemical engineer by profession and has been in the platinum group metal mining industry for over 25 years. Smith also leads Valterra’s market development work on battery development, as well as all local activities on the hydrogen economy development.
  • John Orrico (Panelist): Orrico is a seasoned executive with over 35 years of leadership experience in the luxury jewelry industry. His career spans iconic brands such as Tiffany & Co. and Maison Birks/Mayors Jewelers. Currently, Orrico is president of Frederick Goldman, Inc.
