1 For jewelry retailers, the eighth month is a Sahara of the calendar. It’s beastly hot, a barren wind blows and — unless you’re in a resort location — the customers have all dried up. It’s also the only month of the year without a real holiday; it’s probably no accident that National Lazy Day, Deadwood Day, and Failures Day are commemorated in August. Our advice? Take off for the beach or lake and encourage the remaining staff to hold a “The Owner’s Away Sale.”

3-9 When passion dies, so does the impulse to buy jewelry. Mark National Resurrect Romance Week (held six months after Valentine’s Day) with a mailer providing tips on how to rekindle those flames of passion. (Tip No. 4: Surprise mate with a stunning gift.)

4 Jewelers traditionally didn’t spend a lot of time targeting women with no immediate interest in marriage. But the world has changed; 50 percent of American women younger than 34 have yet to tie the knot, and many of them earn good money. On Single Working Women’s Day, entice these hard-working ladies to reward themselves.

9 Sell estate jewelry? If so, this could be a big week. That’s because this is no ordinary Saturday — it’s National Garage Sale Day. Which means there will be even more people than usual clearing out their attics and storerooms today. Run some ads in local papers and on your website offering your buying services prior to the day itself.

Closing With Confidence: How Bailey's Fine Jewelry Achieved Outstanding Results With Wilkerson

When Trey Bailey, President and CEO of Bailey's Fine Jewelry, decided to close the Crabtree location in Raleigh, North Carolina after 15 years, he knew the decision needed to be handled with intention and professionalism. The goal was clear: exit the location while maintaining financial strength and honoring the store's legacy. Having worked with Wilkerson successfully in the past, Bailey understood the value of their comprehensive approach. "They understood both the emotional and financial sides of the store closing sale," Trey explains. "Their reputation for professionalism, results and care made it a very easy decision." The results exceeded expectations. Wilkerson helped Bailey's sell through significant inventory while maintaining the dignity of the closing process. "They don't just run a sale, they help close a chapter in the best way possible," Bailey says, strongly recommending Wilkerson to any jeweler facing a similar transition.
