I BEGAN REPORTING ON the jewelry in Season 3 of And Just Like That … in earlier episodes. And although the plot and dialogue continue to disappoint as they did in the first several episodes, some of the jewelry worn by Sarah Jessica Parker, Sarita Choudhury and Kristin Davis in character keeps me watching, particularly when it comes to pieces from independent designers. And the rings on SJP and Choudhury are some of my favorite jewels this season.

SJP as Carrie wears rings from various designers, but those that caught my eye immediately were the Kwit Mood Orb Rings, as I still have my glass mood rings from my pre-teen years in the 1970s when they were extremely popular. On the Kwit website the gemstone versions are described as “a dreamy, tie-dye enamel band which wraps around a radiant gemstone orb.”

“Tuned to your energy, your rhythm, your mood, each ring is charged with light, intention, and the magic of alignment,” the site continues. “Like true friendships, they’re a reminder that some connections are written in the stars.”

Carrie has so far worn two of the Kwit gemstone interpretations. Pictured above is the pink tourmaline, “which glows with playfulness and feminine power and supports emotional release and inspires confidence, creativity, and joy,” according to the website. In another episode she wears the pink chalcedony version, “which is the Stone of Empathy, radiating calm and compassion, like a soft cosmic hug. It soothes the heart, opens emotional pathways, and aligns you with love’s higher frequency.”

Although the meanings are not significant in context of the episodes, the rings are part of the trend toward the symbolism so popular in today’s jewelry.

SJP’s character also stacks rings from other independent and more established designers, mixing various shapes and styles — also a theme happening in the market today.

Choudhury’s character, Seema, wears a ring designed by Loren Nicole, a creative bench jeweler who looks to ancient inspirations, talismans and artifacts and reinterprets them with an inventive take in high-karat gold. Such is the case with the one-of-a-kind Anubis Amulet Ring we see on Seema, whose pieces tend to be larger and more statement-making to go with her gutsy, confident personality.

Parker also continues to wear pieces from other indie designers whom she wore in the first two seasons. These include a pair of Nak Armstrong earrings, spotted in one of the episodes as she walks with Kristin Davis’s character, Charlotte.

While many of the pieces that Carrie wore in the original Sex and the City and Season 1 of And Just Like That … launched trends, Season 3’s pieces are eye-catching but seem to be part of themes that that are already happening. Still, they showcase the creativity of independent designers on the small screen and stand out as unique pieces you might consider adding to your collection.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
