FIRST, YOU MIGHT ask what Robert Downey Jr. is doing at the film premiere of the director Park Chan-wook’s new mystery romance thriller Decision To Leave. Downey was there to support the talented director, with whom he will be working on the upcoming HBO series The Sympathizer. Downey has always revealed his individual style, which has changed over the years since starting his acting career as a teenager.

Most recently he can be seen sporting various glasses, all of which suit his expressiveness and his expansive personality. I haven’t seen him wear much jewelry, but he always wears just the right suit for the occasion, as well as his eyewear styles.

So this Jacquie Aiche ring and necklace came as quite a surprise when I spotted them on him while trolling celebrity photos. The burgundy added a bit more color than his traditional menswear black, navy, gray and cream suits but looked ultra-modern with his solid black top. But let’s discuss the necklace and ring. Both jewels set off his look of the night, which was sans his cool frames.

The jewels were iconic Jacquie Aiche all the way: from the onyx inlay turquoise Crescent Moon and Sun pendant to the opal inlay Galaxy ring with chevron sides. The jewels provided a bohemian feeling to what could have been a straightforward dapper style. They both complemented and contrasted with the suit, which evoked a richness that was more intriguing to me than the “man brooch” and other diamond styles we have seen men wearing on the red carpet. It led me to want to ask him or his stylist what about those pieces spoke to him.

I guess I won’t know, but I do feel that they are welcome additions to the men’s jewelry game. Downey definitely knocked it up a notch.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
