Security Guard Shot to Death at Jewelry Store in Illinois Mall

A security guard was fatally shot in a jewelry store in a Chicago-area shopping mall.

The shooting happened early Wednesday afternoon at River Oaks Center in Calumet City, IL, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The security guard, whose name has not been released, died after being taken to an area hospital. ABC 7 reports that he was 57.

Police said they do not yet know the motive for the shooting. They are looking for multiple suspects, according to ABC 7.

ABC 7 notes that another man “sustained a minor hand injury from broken glass and was treated on the scene.”

The name of the jewelry store was not provided in media reports.
