(PRESS RELEASE) Shree Ramkrishna Exports Pvt. Ltd. (SRK), a global leader in the diamond industry has attained the Membership for SDG Task Force by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC).

RJC is a sustainability standard setting organization for the jewelry and watch industry. Its SDG or the Sustainable Development Goals Task Force is a global collaborative effort to develop a systemic risk management framework that can reduce socio-economic inequalities. RJC Members commit to and are independently audited against the RJC Code of Practices – an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds, gold and platinum group metals.

The SDG Taskforce will establish an SDG Action Platform to coordinate the efforts of the industry, launch a global library of best practices, build a unified reporting framework based on existing international best practices, provide inputs for the RJC 2030 Roadmap while supporting member metrics and further develop new ways and ideas to implement the 17 UN SDGs within the gems and jewelry industry.

“Sustainability of watches and jewelry is the biggest single issue facing the industry today,” said Melanie Grant, executive director at Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). “We know we face serious challenges but there are also people, like those at SRK, doing great things and I think we should highlight them in powerful ways. If we are to encourage people to be better inside and outside the industry, we need to foster positive, proactive change wherever possible. The RJC SDG Task Force is a significant global action platform that unites the industry to create meaningful and scalable impact. We appreciate SRK’s support and ongoing commitment to responsible jewelry and sustainable supply chains.”

SRK is known for driving continuous improvement in responsible business practices across the diamond supply chain. Dr. Nirav Mandir, chief human capital officer-SRK says “Partnerships achieve transformational change with the synergies and collective action taken on the ground. At SRK, it is our constant endeavor to give back to the society. As a proud member of the SDG Task Force, we believe that the action platform will be a catalyst for our progress towards meaningful social responsibility.”
