Get Ideas From the Best of the Best

We’ve been working hard on providing you with new stuff each day on INSTOREMAG.COM in our Daily Shine section (featuring Shine Times, Shine Blogs, Shine News and Shine on Design).

But, behind the scenes, we’ve also been working on the old stuff, trying to get our archives back in shape after a disastrous transition a few years back that resulted in a lot of lost material. That process is still ongoing, but there are a number of key sections of INSTORE magazine that are (more or less) complete and ready for your visits.

To start, go to the INSTORE archives main page, where you can read content from individual issues going back to September 2002.

Then peruse the collected works of columnists like Shane Decker, David Geller and David Brown. If you’re looking for good ideas, don’t forget to go through our Ask INSTORE and Book Reviews archives. One newer, can’t-miss area of the site is our Sanity Files department — where you can see the collected installments of what I honestly think is one of the coolest magazine departments ever.

All that said, if I were a jewelry retailer looking for inspiration, the place I would start is right here — our “Best of the Best” archives page, with more than 80 successful promotions from jewelers. Dive in!

Ready to Relocate? Wilkerson Makes Your Move Seamless

When Brockhaus Jewelry decided to leave their longtime West Main Street storefront for a standalone building elsewhere in Norman, Oklahoma, owners John Brockhaus and Brad Shipman faced a familiar challenge: how to efficiently reduce inventory before the big move. Their solution? Partnering with liquidation specialists Wilkerson for a second time. "We'd already experienced Wilkerson's professionalism during a previous sale," Shipman recalls. "But their approach to our relocation event truly impressed us. They strategically prioritized our existing pieces while tactfully introducing complementary merchandise as inventory levels decreased." The carefully orchestrated sale didn't just meet targets—it shattered them. Asked if they'd endorse Wilkerson to industry colleagues planning similar transitions—whether relocating, retiring, or refreshing their space—both partners were emphatic in their approval. "The entire process was remarkably straightforward," Shipman notes. "Wilkerson delivered a well-structured program, paired us with a knowledgeable advisor, and managed every detail flawlessly from concept to completion."
