(Press Release) VALENZA, ITALY – To celebrate its 50th Anniversary in 2017, Picchiotti has created L’Anfiteatro, an 8.05-carat ruby ring inspired by a classic amphitheatre and designed by founder and CEO Giuseppe Picchiotti.

The company is also presenting a book called Picchiotti: The First Fifty Years by Vivienne Becker, by esteemed jewelry historian and contributing editor for the Financial Times.

The ring will debut at Baselworld 2017, the World Watch and Jewellery Show in Basel, Switzerland (March 23-30). Picchiotti will also unveil its 2017 Collection featuring Picchiotti Signature Pieces and the company’s new and innovative XpandableTM Collection of rings and bracelets.

To see the 50th Anniversary L’Anfiteatro Ruby Ring and the 2017 Picchiotti Collection, visit the Picchiotti booth at Baselworld: Hall 1.1 – D71.

“For our 50th Anniversary I wanted to create a jewel that captured the essence of Picchiotti style and craftsmanship,” Picchiotti said, “while keeping the spirit of innovative creativity very much alive and moving forward. I believe L’Anfiteatro is all that and more, a remarkable ruby, and a setting deeply infused with the essence of Picchiotti style.”

The Picchiotti 50th Anniversary Ring is reminiscent of an amphitheatre, with three fans of “seats” (baguette diamonds) looking over the “leading actor” (the oval ruby). The ruby has been classified as entirely natural, with no heat-treatment or color enhancement, which is rare for a ruby of this size.

“It is the perfect stone, the one I had been searching for to create this special piece that marks this special milestone,” said Picchiotti said, “a piece for the true connoisseur, an heirloom worthy of an exceptional collection.”

The 248-page book by Vivienne Becker, esteemed jewelry historian and contributing editor for the Financial Times, will also debut at Baselworld 2017.

Susan Jacques, president and CEO of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), has written the foreword.

“Having launched Picchiotti in 1967, I first went to Basel in 1973 … and we have been showing our collections there every year since,” Giuseppe said. “On the occasion of our 50th Anniversary, I am thrilled to unveil this glorious book by Vivienne Becker, the story of our family’s half-century of love and achievement.”

Picchiotti will host a Champagne Press Reception featuring a personal appearance and book signing by Becker from 4 to 6 p.m. March 26 at the Picchiotti Baselworld Booth: Hall 1.1-D71. RSVP to Helena@luxbrandgroup.com.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
