(Press Release) BANGKOK — The president of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) led a delegation to participate in a roadshow to Hong Kong on March 3 and to Guangzhou on March 5 to strengthen relationship with the media and overseas alliances.

Suttipong Damrongsakul, president of the TGJTA, led representatives from the association to participate in a roadshow to Hong Kong. The delegation held a series of meetings with overseas partners to discuss opportunities for future cooperation with King Li, president of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association (HKJJA), and Ken Lo, chairman of HKJJA.

Suttipong gave an interview to Hong Kong Jewelry Magazine about the upcoming Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair 2017 as well as an overview of Thailand’s jewelry industry and tax incentives for jewelry manufacturing and trading in Thailand.

“The Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair is not only for Thai operators, but for the whole jewelry industry in ASEAN,” said Suttipong. “The TGJTA has a strong relationship with trade associations worldwide and we also have strong support from the Thai Ministry of Tourism in promoting Thailand as the shopping hub for gems and jewelry.

“The Thai government has been highly supportive of the gems and jewelry industry; currently there is no VAT (Value-Added Tax) in Thailand for rough stones, gold and silver chains and machinery.”

Public relations representatives of the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair also met international media partners from Hong Kong, China, India, Taiwan, Singapore and the U.S. to promote the first international mid-year gems and jewelry show to be held in Bangkok in June.

On March 5, Suttipong met with Chen Huan Zhao, chairman from Guangdong Private Enterprise Culture Promotion Association and Executive Vice President from Guangzhou Chaoshan Association. Both organizations were invited to participate in this year’s Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair in order to promote trade between the two countries.

The TGJTA is also gearing up to host the Thailand Gems & Jewelry Fair, Thailand’s first mid-year jewelry show which will be held from June 15 to 18 at IMPACT Challenger 2, Muang Thong Thani, Bangkok, Thailand. The optimal timing will allow major international buyers to visit the fair to conduct business with quality exhibitors and view quality raw material and finished products from ASEAN+6 countries. The prestigious fair will also feature new trends and innovation in the industry, highlighting Thailand’s strength as a world-class hub for gems and jewelry while providing a platform for networking across the industry.INSTORE TGJTA roadshow

Time to Do What You've Always Wanted? Time to Call Wilkerson.

It was time. Teri Allen and her brother, Nick Pavlich, Jr., had been at the helm of Dearborn Jewelers of Plymouth in Plymouth, Mich., for decades. Their father, Nick Pavlich, Sr., had founded the store in 1950, but after so many wonderful years helping families around Michigan celebrate their most important moments, it was time to get some “moments” of their own. Teri says Wilkerson was the logical choice to run their retirement sale. “They’re the only company that specializes in closing jewelry stores,” she says. During the sale, Teri says a highlight was seeing so many generations of customers who wanted to buy “that one last piece of jewelry from us.” Would she recommend Wilkerson? Absolutely. “There is no way that I would have been able to do this by myself.”
