The 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards marked the return of a live version after last year’s pre-taped 2021 show. It also kicked off the red carpet season, which usually is the tradition of the Golden Globes (airing of which was canceled earlier in the season). The actors of film and television who attended and were up for awards went all out with glimmer and glamour. Pink was a huge color for gowns, while some stylish actresses went for an elegant twist on pantsuits and tuxedo looks. All turned out in the sparkle of jewelry that bespoke the excitement of getting dressed up and going out again. We couldn’t stop at the 10 best looks, and we didn’t want to ignore the trends, so we opted for a dozen of the brightest looks on the red carpet and the directions they represent.

Make A Bold Statement

Necklaces at the 2022 SAG Awards expressed their message loud and clear. Each one stood out as a singular sensation, acting as a halo lighting up the face of the actress wearing it. The statement necklace has been trending for some time, and these looks say we are ready for a more optimistic time ahead — one filled with a little glamour and a whole lot of happiness.

Lighting Up the Face

There will always be earrings at awards shows. They are the jewels closest to the face, lighting it up in diamonds or colored gemstones. The earring revival five years ago brought back all different styles, and now it’s just a matter of what works best with the shape of a woman’s face and the outfit she is wearing. These are the best looks that also accented the natural beauty of the stars who wore them.

Jessica Chastain was the picture of sophistication in De Beers Reflections of Nature Namib Wonder Climber earrings of 14.56 total carat weight in diamonds.

Julianna Margulies’ natural glow was highlighted by Fred Leighton round, old European cut diamond drop earrings that are part of the Signed Fred Leighton collection.

Kerry Washington created an edgy glamour when she accented her princess-style gown with Messika reverse crescent diamond drop earrings.

Cynthia Erivo always brings on the bling in her earring choices, and this time was no exception. She wore fewer earrings than usual, but those that she did wear — Tiffany & Co. diamond ultra blingy earrings that sat on her ears — were the perfect complement to her red dress. (The Tiffany ruby and diamond rings are also worth mentioning as part of the trend toward larger rings on every finger.)

Black Out

While many of the A-list actresses chose to wear pinks in different permutations, there were also those who wore highly stylized black gowns, such as Cate Blanchett’s Armani Prive with chunky black stones around the plunging neckline. There were also more subdued gowns that were elevated with either Art Deco-inspired jewelry or authentic Art Deco pieces.

Cate Blanchett wears multiple rings by Pomellato but the one that stood out was the larger Victoria ring in jet and rose gold.

Madeline Brewster wears W. Rosado’s ceramic black hoop earrings evoking a mix of inspiration, from tribal jewelry to Art Deco lacquered pieces.

Meryl Streep is always elegant. Here she wears black jade and diamond hexagonal stud earrings from Signed Fred Leighton in 18K white gold and an authentic Art Deco diamond and onyx necklace from Fred Leighton.
