The Plumb Club’s July Podcasts Underscore the Importance of a Retailer’s Digital Strategy

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — The Plumb Club’s podcasts for July have been published. As a result of The Plumb Club Industry and Market Insights 2021, a recently published research document highlighting that 33% of consumers rate a retailer’s website as the number 1 influencer of a jewelry purchase, this month’s two new podcasts from industry experts and Plumb Club Members illustrate the importance of having a digital strategy that can make sales happen, even when a retailer cannot interact directly with the customer. Both provide valuable insight, as well as easily actionable steps to help retailers.

The Importance of Images: Kye Ehrlich discusses how in our modern world many sales happen online where a retailer has little opportunity to interact with a customer directly. Providing statistics on a consumer’s website actions he details how important the images used are to sales, underscoring that we are reliant upon “visual language” to draw customers in and prove to them the quality of products that are being presented. He provides listeners with several options and helpful tips on getting needed imagery either via vendor/suppliers or outside agencies. Additionally, great insight is provided on how to create needed images in-house effectively and inexpensively with minimal equipment. Kye Ehrlich is the head of photography and graphic art at The Marathon Company, a privately held, third generation family business founded in 1897 – makers of Kiddie Kraft, LeStage and Essentials by Marathon.

Retailing in Today’s World: Karl Schmid and Carolina Almanzar provide compelling stats that underscore how important it is for retailers to develop a digital strategy. While neatly demystifying and explaining the acronyms of the digital world, they take the listener on a step-by-step journey to get started on a website or improve what may already be there. They discuss ecommerce and provide solutions as well as showcase how social media and consumer experience is crucial – giving several helpful tips on each. Karl Schmid is the vice president and Carolina Almanzar, a senior sales representative with the Istar Group of companies, which have been in operation collectively for over 100 years and combine world class branding with thoughtful packaging.

The Plumb Club podcasts, which are added monthly, provide strategies, knowledge and immediately actionable steps from industry leaders, that help retailers across a variety of business areas. The newest podcasts, as well as the previous ones, are available on The Plumb Club website under the “Resources” tab.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
