KIM KARDASHIAN WORE a piece of royal history when she attended the 2024 LACMA Art + Film Gala charity event. It was a large amethyst, silver and diamond crucifix, created by Garrard and worn by Princess Diana on quite a few occasions.

To say that they wore it differently would be an understatement.

But before we get to that, let’s talk about Kardashian’s procurement of this iconic piece. She bought the Attallah Cross necklace at a London Sotheby’s auction in 2023, paying $197,453 — double its pre-auction estimate. It was one of the few jewels worn by the princess to ever be sold at auction.

Kardashian wore it with a plunging neckline — a white Gucci gown that provided a backdrop for this historical piece. She wore it with a pear and diamond choker and pearl collar that sat up high while the cross dipped low.

Although Diana borrowed the pendant from Garrard on several occasions, perhaps the most iconic moment was when she wore it with a subtle pearl necklace at the Birthright Charity Gala in 1987. She matched it to her purple velvet high ruffled neck Catherine Walker gown.
Different looks, yes?

A bit of history on the necklace: It was designed in the 1920s by Garrard and was previously owned Naim Attallah, the former  chief executive of Asprey. Being friends with the princess, Attallah loaned the ultra-large cross to her for various outings. Until Kardashian wore it, it was never worn by anyone else and since Princess Di passed away, it hadn’t been seen in public.

Four Decades of Excellence: How Wilkerson Transformed a Jeweler's Retirement into Celebration

After 45 years serving the Milwaukee community, Treiber & Straub Jewelers owner Michael Straub faced a significant life transition. At 75, the veteran jeweler made a personal decision many business owners understand: "I think it's time. I want to enjoy my wife with my grandchildren for the next 10, 15 years." Wilkerson's expertise transformed this major business transition into an extraordinary success. Their comprehensive approach to managing the going-out-of-business sale created unprecedented customer response—with lines forming outside the store and limits on how many shoppers could enter at once due to fire safety regulations. The results exceeded all expectations. "Wilkerson did a phenomenal job," Straub enthuses. "They were there for you through the whole thing, helped you with promoting it, helping you on day-to-day business. I can't speak enough for how well they did." The partnership didn't just facilitate a business closing; it created a celebratory finale to decades of service while allowing Straub to confidently step into his well-earned retirement.
