TIMOTHÉE CHALAMET, an ambassador for Cartier, has been wearing some of the most labor-intensive and creative necklaces from the house for prior premieres of films in which he has starred.

But for the international premieres of A Complete Unknown, in which he sings, plays guitar and gives a spectacular performance as Bob Dylan, he has taken it down a notch. He still wears necklaces, but they are classic styles that have been designed and worn in different iterations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries — simple all-around diamond necklaces. For the Paris premiere, he donned the Cartier Essentials Line Necklace in platinum and diamonds, and for the U.K. premiere he wore the same necklace in white gold and diamonds.

He combined the chic necklace at the Paris premiere with a quirky mix of a Chanel leather jacket over a white T-shirt and Isabel Marant jeans, combat boots and a skinny pink scarf and pink-dyed baseball cap. The look worked for the perpetual fashion icon.

At the U.K. premiere, he added more jewels to the Cartier necklace, including the Cartier Essentials Line bracelet in 18K white gold and diamonds and two Cartier 18K white gold and diamond rings. He wore them with a black double-breasted suit, a blue and green floral silk shirt untucked, and black pointy-toe loafers.

The prolific actor can get away with fun and witty takes on fashion and accessories and definitely projects an individual sense of style. He also has worn some of the most intricate one-of-kind and high jewelry from Cartier.

The classic diamond necklace is one of the pieces in different price points and settings that continues to be on women’s wish lists or in their daily rotations, but we have only seen it on male celebrities in bolder layered looks at awards presentations. Will this more everyday version become a trend for men now that the style-setter has worn it on two occasions? We will watch and see.
