The company has collected $500,000 in damages.

Verragio, a designer of engagement rings and wedding bands, reports that it has collected over $500,000 in damages for copyright infringement.

In the past 18 months, the company has sent cease-and-desist letters and filed lawsuits against more than 30 companies which it claims advertised or sold rings infringing upon its copyrights.

Verragio stated in a press release that it has obtained court judgments or entering into private settlements in more than 15 cases, with many other matters still pending.

According to the release: “In these settlements, the targeted companies acknowledge the validity of Verragio’s rights in Verragio’s copyrights. In addition, all of the targets made a financial payment to Verragio and agreed never to manufacture any ring which might infringe upon Verragio’s copyrights and nationally recognized ring designs.”

Owner Barry Verragio said the company’s authorized retail partners “expect us to protect their investment in Verragio.”

“By protecting our intellectual property, we are maintaining not only the integrity of the brand, but also the reputation of those retailers who represent it,” he said. “We are 100 percent dedicated to supporting our retail partners and will see to it that no one benefits from our exclusive designs besides Verragio and our authorized dealers.”

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
