INTESA SANPAOLO: JEWELLERY COMPANIES, ONE IN THREE EXPECTS TURNOVER TO INCREASE IN 2024
A third of gold and jewellery companies expects to see an increase in turnover in 2024 (28% in the December survey). This is the snapshot that emerges from the sixth edition of the economic survey carried out by Club degli Orafi Italia and Intesa Sanpaolo among the Italian jewellery industry’s leading companies and presented on the opening day of Vicenzaoro. Evidence consistent with the change in the ISTAT turnover index, which, in the first half of the year, showed an increase of 4%, unlike the fashion system, which suffered a decrease of -8%. The outlook on investments is also positive according to 29% of those interviewed: more accommodating monetary policies and the progressive reduction in energy costs have dampened fears linked to the cost of debt and energy costs. The Intesa Sanpaolo survey includes the topic of sustainability in order to investigate the measures implemented by companies to promote ESG actions, ensure raw material traceability and improve the environmental and social impact of their activities. The most widespread practice is separate waste collection in almost all the sample (77% for manufacturing companies, 95% for commercial companies). Among manufacturing companies, attention to reducing packaging (59%) and hazardous materials (55%) is good and the presence of specific certifications is high (55%), the most widespread of which is RJC certification.
AUTUMN/WINTER 2024-25, THE FOUR TRENDS IN STORE WINDOWS
According to Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting, jewellery trends for the coming autumn/winter season 2024-25 will run along the axis of time: between historical heritage and contemporary innovations. Consumers want to express individuality through unique and bold pieces. Hence, inspirations between vintage and avant-garde, which the IEG observatory identifies with four labels. A return to Boldness , driven by the revival of the vintage aesthetics of the 1970s and ‘80s with the use of smooth, rounded metals, from the iconic gas tube to polished gold spheres, accompanied by cabochons and semi-precious stones. Opulence and luxury come from the past, reminiscent of Victorian or even Georgian-era combinations: these are the main features of the X-Treme Décor trend. But jewellery is to all intents and purposes a language, along with tattoos, that people use to express personality and creativity. Superstyling is the trend that reflects what is happening in the workshops that the street and social media have now become. One example is the “ear party”, a diverse collection of earrings adorning the ear. From individualism to designer, Graphique celebrates elegant design through minimalist lines and lightweight materials. Distinctive signs such as spirals and V-shapes embody the designer’s creativity, transforming simplicity into versatile and timeless elegance.
