As a third generation jeweler, I consider myself fortunate to be included in the elite group of family businesses that are operating at the fourth generation level. Standing alongside my son, David, and daughter, Fradine, who represent the fourth generation of this entity, I have great pride as we strive together to preserve and enhance the proprietary creativity of my grandfather, David Lampert, an artist who set standards of design and originality that many attempt to emulate even today.

Our focus continues to be one of originality, not only in design, but also in marketing, customer relationships, specialty out-of-the-box services, and dedicated community involvement. We’re honored to have been commissioned to create special pieces for three museums: an 18K gold paperweight for Pope John Paul II; a special stained glass window representing Judaism, titled L’dor V’dor (from generation to generation) in the Loyola University Museum of Art (LUMA); and 27 original designs, eight of which David and Fradine created, commissioned for the Grainger Hall of Gems in the Field Museum of Chicago.

Additionally, we have crafted unique creations for A-list celebrities and athletes such as Oprah, Billy Jean King, Kanye West, Michael Jordan, Mike Ditka, Angelina Jolie, Ann Landers and Brad Pitt, as well as President Barack Obama and President Donald Trump.

Furthermore, we have won several national jewelry awards, and most recently were humbled by being recognized by our peers and selected as America’s Coolest Store 2017 in the Big Store category.

The reason we entered the America’s Coolest Stores contest was to prove that our ongoing commitment to the standard of excellence that was originally created by my grandfather has not lessened and has been acknowledged by our peers today.

Our America’s Coolest Stores win signifies our fourth generation’s ongoing determination to improve, adjust and evolve with today’s changes, and they have taken the baton to remain in the forefront of individual fine jewelry stores.

To me, the award means that the newest generation being led by my son, David, who is also humbled by this honor, ensures it will provide the Lampert family with an additional impetus and further strengthen the values that my grandfather instilled in us over 98 years ago. I’m proud to say that the Lampert legacy lives on.

This Third-Generation Jeweler Was Ready for Retirement. He Called Wilkerson

Retirement is never easy, especially when it means the end to a business that was founded in 1884. But for Laura and Sam Sipe, it was time to put their own needs first. They decided to close J.C. Sipe Jewelers, one of Indianapolis’ most trusted names in fine jewelry, and call Wilkerson. “Laura and I decided the conditions were right,” says Sam. Wilkerson handled every detail in their going-out-of-business sale, from marketing to manning the sales floor. “The main goal was to sell our existing inventory that’s all paid for and turn that into cash for our retirement,” says Sam. “It’s been very, very productive.” Would they recommend Wilkerson to other jewelers who want to enjoy their golden years? Absolutely! “Call Wilkerson,” says Laura. “They can help you achieve your goals so you’ll be able to move into retirement comfortably.”
