AGTA Unveils the Innovative Design Award in Its Annual Spectrum Awards

(PRESS RELEASE) DALLAS — The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) is unveiling a new category in its renowned annual Spectrum Awards. Enter the “Innovative Design” category and award, debuting in the 2026 Awards competition, which opens for entries at the end of June 2026.

New to the Spectrum division, the Innovative Design Award was created to recognize exceptional creativity, originality, and craftsmanship in jewelry design accessible to a broader market. This award will be granted to the most outstanding entry with a wholesale cost under $10,000, celebrating designs that demonstrate innovation, artistry, and commercial viability without compromising excellence.

According to Jon Gad, Chair of the AGTA Spectrum Awards Committee, the Innovative Design Award was “created to recognize exceptional creativity, originality, and craftsmanship,” providing both established and emerging designers the chance to explore bold concepts, unexpected materials, and fresh artistic approaches.

“I can’t wait to see the ingenuity and creativity entrants will bring to the table, and how this award will spark new energy and innovation within our competition,” he says.

AGTA’s Board President Bruce Bridges and CEO, John W. Ford, Sr., are also enthused about the new Award.

“We’re excited to increase the accessibility and participation in our AGTA Spectrum Awards,” says Bridges. “The Innovative Design Award reflects our commitment to celebrating forward-thinking artistry that’s not only beautiful and masterfully crafted, but also attainable for a broader segment of the market. By recognizing exceptional pieces with a wholesale value under $10,000, we’re opening the door for more designers to showcase bold ideas, fresh perspectives, and commercial viability—without sacrificing the excellence the Spectrum Awards are known for.”

AGTA will announce the opening of the 2026 Spectrum & Cutting Edge Awards at the end of June 2026. For more information, email [email protected].
