Jewelers of America Opens 20 Under 40 Program Nominations

The program recognizes outstanding professionals in both jewelry retail and supplier businesses that serve the fine jewelry industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, NY — Jewelers of America (JA), the national trade association for businesses serving the fine jewelry marketplace, is seeking nominations for the best and brightest rising talents to be featured in Jewelers of America’s 20 Under 40 Program. The program recognizes outstanding professionals in both jewelry retail and supplier businesses that serve the fine jewelry industry.

Launched in 2022, the 20 Under 40 Program celebrates rising professionals who exemplify leadership skills and a commitment to the jewelry industry. The program features two lists – 20 Under 40: Jewelry Retail and 20 Under 40: Jewelry Suppliers – with each list honoring 20 individuals.

“Our 20 Under 40 Program celebrates the next generation of leaders making meaningful contributions to the jewelry industry,” says JA President & CEO David J. Bonaparte. “By honoring both retail and supplier professionals, the program reflects the collaboration, innovation, and leadership that drive excellence across the entire fine jewelry marketplace.”

A panel of judges will review all candidates based on the following criteria: successful in their chosen field, demonstrates leadership characteristics and an innovative mindset, potential to improve their community, and a commitment to the Jewelers of America Code of Professional Practices and professional ethics.

The Criteria for nomination in the 20 Under 40 list are as follows:

  • Nominee must be under the age of 40 as of January 14, 2026
  • Nominee must be a full-time employee at an active JA Member retailer or supplier company
  • Nominee company must be based in the U.S.
  • Retail nominees may be a store owner, bench jeweler, manager, sales executive or serve the jewelry store full-time in marketing, accounting, or other areas of operations
  • Supplier nominees may be a jewelry designer; an employee of a manufacturer, wholesale firm or a service provider for the U.S. jewelry marketplace
  • Nominee must have at least three years of experience within the jewelry industry

Recipients will receive a trophy, national recognition, features on Jewelers of America’s social media and website, a press release to send to local press, and a free Jewelers of America Certification Course.

Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by an industry colleague. Nominations are being accepted through February 13, 2026.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family.
