DIAMONDS WERE DEFINITELY twinkling brightly at the 2026 Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards. But quite a few actresses and their stylists also chose a more colorful approach to jewelry by selecting vibrant gemstone pieces. At the Globes, we saw Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Miley Cyrus in sapphire centerpiece necklaces by Bulgari and Tiffany & Co. respectively. Julia Roberts wore a strawberry necklace by Swarovski and Maya Rudolph wore a statement necklace by Chanel. But the real standouts for me were Kristen Bell and J. Lo. in Sabyasachi earrings and Ryan Destiny in a Chopard High Jewelry necklace due to the stones that were used in the pieces.

Let’s start with Kristen Bell’s Sabyasachi earrings, consisting of aquamarine, kunzite and diamonds. The combination of the two stones was soft yet still popped and was just the right touch for her off-the-shoulder gown.

Jennifer Lopez also wore gemstone earrings by Sabyasachi in morganite and diamonds along with a tourmaline and diamond ring. I wish her gown were a bit more simple, which would have made these extraordinary pieces stand out even more. But then, I always think of the fashion as the backdrop for jewelry.

Ryan Destiny also donned one of the most special colored gemstones pieces of the evening — a Chopard necklace in 18K white and rose gold with sapphires and diamonds from the Haute Joaillerie Collection. It was one of the most show-stopping pieces on the Globe’s red carpet.

These definitely inspire me to add a new piece with one or more of these gemstones to my existing jewelry wardrobe. Are your customers thinking the same as I am? Let us know in the comments section.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
