New York Attorney General Letitia James has told a federal judge her office will hold off enforcing a state law requiring retailers to tell customers that they use algorithmic pricing for now, Bloomberg Law reports. That pause is designed to give Judge Jed Rakoff time to decide on a motion filed by the National Retail Federation seeking a temporary and permanent injunction against the law going into effect. (The NRF filed its lawsuit July 2, and the law was to go into effect on July 8.)
If Rakoff, who sits on the bench at the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, denies the preliminary injunction, James’ office said it will wait 30 more days before beginning enforcement of the law, Bloomberg Law reports.
