$1M in Jewels Stolen at Trade Show in Houston

A thief took an estimated $1 million in goods from a jeweler at a trade show in Houston.

The crime happened Sunday evening at the International Gem & Jewelry Show held at the NRG Center in Houston, Click2Houston reports.

Iftikhar Sayed, owner of Sayed Creations, had been selling merchandise at the direct-to-consumer show and was preparing to leave. He went to get the car and, he said, “My wife mentioned there was a time she turned around for maybe a few seconds.” A suitcase full of inventory was taken.

Sayed’s son-in-law, Josh Davis, said a police report has been filed.

According to Click2Houston: “Now, at 72 years old and with no insurance for his inventory, Sayed said he is having a hard time imagining that he will have to start over.”
