A Ben Bridge Jeweler store in Tigard, OR, was robbed of about $200,000 in merchandise, KOIN-TV reports.
As mny as five suspects are believed to have been involved in the crime, which took place on a Tuesday afternoon. They smashed jewelry cases with sledgehammers, police said.
The robbers ran out of the store, which is located at Washington Square Mall, and took off in a getaway car, according to authorities. Police chased the suspects for about 7 miles.
Authorities have arrested three suspects: Darereon Newton, Brandon Sullivan and Shakira Karriem. They stand charged with theft, along with criminal mischief, according to KOIN.
Alleged Ring-Theft Scammers Arrested
Authorities believe a man and woman scammed stores in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana out of jewelry, the Waco Tribune-Herald reports. At a Zales store in Waco, TX, police say David Luis Sixto and Ashley Vanessa Tarango secretely swapped out a diamond ring worth nearly $18,000 for a cubic zirconia ring. They’re suspected in similar thefts across several cities. The newspaper reports that they “have an initial state jail felony charge of theft locally.” It states that they are charged with grand larceny in Oklahoma.
$300,000 in Jewelry Stolen From Artists at Show
A North Carolina woman and a Pennsylvania woman say $300,000 in jewelry was taken from the trunk of their car following the Art in the Pearl show in Portland, OR. They said they had packed up after the show and went into a store, KPTV reports. That evening, they realized the jewelry was missing. Police do not currently have any leads. The artists have offered a $5,000 reward for the return of their goods.
