Nine people were held at gunpoint in a jewelry store robbery in Glendale, AZ.
The crime happened just before 7 p.m. Wednesday at a Jared store, according to a post on the Glendale Police Department’s Facebook page. No one was injured.
Four men wearing ski masks entered the store and zip-tied several victims. Among those held were both employees and customers. At one point, a gun was held to someone’s head, ABC 15 reports.
Police stated:
On 3/16/22 just before 7pm, a woman called 911 reporting that four men came into a jewelry store near 75th Ave and Bell Rd and robbed nine victims inside the store. She told the 911 operator that the men were armed and held both store employees and customers at gunpoint, to include tying some of them up with zip ties. The suspects took both jewelry from the store and personal items from the victims. As the robbery was happening Glendale officers began arriving on scene and saw three of the suspects run out the front door while the fourth suspect ran out the back. All four suspects were safely taken into custody. No victims reported any physical injuries and at this time a monetary amount of over $1.5 million dollars has been recovered. Detectives are still inventorying the recovered items and the value continues to climb, possibly believed to total over $2 million.
ABC 15 reports that all four suspects — Monta Harris, Deandre Haven, Kenneth Walton, Jr. and Garry Freeny — face charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery. Harris and Freeny also face charges of kidnapping and Harris also faces a weapons charge.
