Accutron Expands Spaceview 2020 Collection Powered by Electrostatic Energy

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK– Accutron, known for its groundbreaking electrostatic technology, expands the iconic Spaceview 2020 collection with two new models. The Accutron Manufacture movement, powered by electrostatic energy is a historical advancement in timekeeping and the first of its kind.

Recreating the stunning visual impact of the original open dial design, Accutron commemorates the original Spaceview’s place in avant-garde timepiece history. Born in an era of unparalleled risk-taking, the historical 1960s Accutron Spaceview was a landmark achievement and immediate sensation. By deconstructing the design of the outer case and exposing the state-of-the-art tuning fork movement, it transformed into the purest example of design integrity and technical excellence. Over time, it became a quintessential masterpiece.

Adding to this next generation of luxury timepieces, two new Spaceview 2020 styles are unveiled. Both watches feature a 43.5mm polished stainless-steel case with green transparent open-work dial with transparent outer ring, white hour and minute hands with Super-LumiNova center and orange second hand, domed double box sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50m. Available on either a matte black or green genuine American alligator strap, the watches retail for $3,850.

“These new introductions showcase the continued success of the Spaceview 2020 design,” said Jeffrey Cohen, President, Citizen Watch America. “We are pleased to offer more variation across this timeless collection.”

The watches spotlight Accutron’s proprietary movement powered by electrostatic energy, created by twin turbines that rotate as a result of human motion at incredible speeds between two electrodes affixed to the movement. The energy, stored in an accumulator, powers two motors; a world’s first electrostatic motor fueling the fluid second hand and a step motor powering the hour and minute hands. Both motors are synchronized through integrated circuits to provide accuracy to +/- 5 seconds a month.
