American Gem Trade Association GemFair Tucson 2018 Breaks Records on Opening Day

(PRESS RELEASE) TUCSON, AZ – The Tucson Convention Center sprung to life for the opening of the 36th edition of the American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) GemFair Tucson 2018.  AGTA has seen a significant increase in registered buyers from over 90 countries, who flocked to explore the show’s offerings of the newest and top classic gemstones and cultured pearls and jewelry from over 300 exhibitors. “The energy on the show floor is palpable,” says AGTA CEO Douglas K. Hucker. “The excitement that emanates from both buyers and exhibitors is what keeps this show thriving.”  AGTA GemFair is more than a trade show; it is a colored gemstone and cultured pearl experience. All exhibitors are AGTA members from whom attendees can peruse the finest and most comprehensive collection of gemstones and pearls in existence around the world.

Additionally, GemFair offers a significant learning experience. Over the course of six days, AGTA is presenting 38 different seminars, a Tools, Technology and Supplies Pavilionwhich is unique to any other show, a CAD Design Studio, “At the Bench Live” presentations, sponsored by MJSA, onsite gemstone report services provided by GIA, AGL, Gubelin and Guild Laboratories. Other special exhibits include the Smithsonian Institution, Extraordinary Cultured and Natural Pearls and the AGTA Spectrum Awards. A highly anticipated seminar has been added to the roster, “How Can the Gemstone Industry Contribute to Sustainable Development?” which brings together a team of panelists from science and practice to discuss how the gemstone industry can further contribute to the cause.
