Armed With Crowbars and Mace, Burglars Pillage Mall Jewelry Store

It took them 90 seconds to smash up the joint and make their getaway.

Three thieves stole an undetermined amount of merchandise from Prime Jewelers inside a Missouri mall, a heist that police say was “well-planned,” KMOV.com reports. According to the article, two of the three men were wearing ski masks and used crowbars to smash jewelry cases. When a store employee tried to stop them, one of the robbers sprayed him with mace. Another employee and a security guard – whose radio was stolen so he couldn’t call for help – were also sprayed. The incident lasted about 90 seconds. “[The robbers] knew they had to go in the closest entrance and exit quickly, they had a vehicle outside ready to pick them up. They definitely knew what they were doing,” Detective William Russ of the Hazelwood Police Department told the news outlet.
