Blue Nile to Cut 119 Jobs, Close Fulfillment Center in Seattle

Blue Nile plans to lay off 119 employees as it closes a fulfillment center in Seattle.

The cuts will start on July 14, the online jeweler stated in a notice filed with the Washington state Employment Security Department.

Blue Nile was acquired by Signet Jewelers last year for $360 million.

Signet told Retail Dive in a statement: “As part of the integration of Blue Nile, we will be reducing duplicative fulfillment center services to centralize these services within our existing New York City fulfillment center over the coming months.”

For affected Blue Nile team members, the company is providing outplacement and support services, and “where appropriate, some team members have been offered a relocation package to join our operations in New York City, or are exploring other roles throughout the company including those in our Seattle operations.”
