Bulova Introduces New Oceanographer GMT

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Bulova, renowned for its exquisite timepieces, pays homage to its iconic 1972 Oceanographer watch, fondly known as the “Devil Diver,” by launching an exciting trio of Oceanographer GMT watches. Merging timeless designs with contemporary elements, the Oceanographer collection receives a significant upgrade with the addition of GMT functionality.

Designed for the modern traveler, the new Oceanographer GMT features the high-performance 9075 premium Miyota automatic movement. This remarkable timepiece enables easy tracking of a second time zone by adjusting the standard 12-hour hand, allowing globetrotters to effortlessly maintain both local and foreign time. With exceptional accuracy of -10/+30 seconds per day and an impressive 42-hour power reserve, the Oceanographer GMT offers excellent value as a vintage-inspired masterpiece.

This distinctive design originates from Bulova’s history of supplying reliable, waterproof timepieces to the U.S. military. Originally conceived for diving expeditions, the watch snugly fits on the diver’s wrist and includes a rotating bezel. The timepiece acquired its memorable moniker, “Devil Diver,” when the brand boldly inscribed “666 feet” on the dial, signifying its underwater depth rating according to the Imperial system, deviating from the conventional 200m standard used by Swiss watchmakers.

Bulova presents the new Oceanographer GMT in three captivating color combinations. The first, affectionately called the “root beer,” features a bi-directional rotating bezel in classic brown and black tones, complementing a striking IP plated rose gold tone stainless steel case and bracelet. The second variant, known as the “lume” watch, boasts a striking high-contrast monochrome aesthetic, with a gunmetal IP plated case and bezel, unidirectional elapsed time indication, and a grey silicone textured strap set against a full luminous white dial. Finally, the “pepsi” version showcases the timeless red and blue hues typically associated with dive watches, presented alongside a stainless steel case, a bi-directional rotating bezel with 24-hour GMT indication, and a matching bracelet.

Noteworthy features of these captivating timepieces include a 41mm case with a screw-down crown, a double-domed box sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating, and an impressive water resistance rating of 200m, symbolized by the iconic “666 feet” displayed on the dial. Priced between $1,295 and $1,395, the new Bulova Oceanographer GMT watches is now available for purchase here.
