INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS AND PIECES from the past are two of my favorite topics to cover in the realm of jewelry. So when I spotted the photo of Camille Morrone wearing London designer Lucy Delius’ Diamond Switch Stirrup Necklace from her ‘The Archetypes’ collection, I couldn’t help but write about it. Morrone wore it to the London premiere of Season 2 of “The Night Manager”, which will return to the small screen in January 2026. It is a spy series which ran on BBC One and then Amazon Prime Video and was nominated for and won several awards since first being released in 2016. It wasn’t until 2024 that the first season ran on Amazon Prime Video.
Morrone wears one of Delius’ creatively reinterpreted antique watch fob chains for which the designer is known. She reenvisions them as well as other styles into modern, highly wearable and collectible jewelry staples. I have personally coveted her chains and this one is no exception.

But before I get into the full description, for those of you who aren’t familiar with Morrone, she was one of the cast members of my favorite 2023 Prime Video limited series “Daisy Jones & The Six”. And her role as Camila Alvarez-Dunne earned her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award. If you haven’t seen the series yet, I recommend it highly, but let’s get back to the necklace.
As described on Delius’ website, the Diamond Switch Stirrup “is an oversized, exaggerated chain inspired by a vintage orb and link necklace. Alternating 14K polished gold and Victorian-set diamond pavé links joined by riveted diamond orbs, the chain is secured with a spring-hinged clasp.” It has the look of an antique trombone link spruced up with a bit of sparkle and spherical-shaped stations. And it’s just one of many of the talented designer’s arsenal of contemporary takes on 19th through early 20th century chains.

Morrone wore it with a Carolina Herrera glimmering gold embroidered bustier paired with a flowing, sheer black pleated skirt. In the photos of the actress/model it looked more delicate than it is in person.
For those of you who are interested in some of Delius’ other Victorian and vintage-inspired chains and necklaces, below are a few that would be great to add to your post-holiday inventory, or, if you are a consumer, to your jewelry wardrobe.

Twisted Trombone link chain with a spring hinged clasp that is designed to be worn either to the front or the back.

Persephone 14K yellow gold Mariner-style chain necklace with billowed links, secured with a Victorian-set diamond pavé double-ended spring clasp.

Diamond Ball Breaker chain of Victorian-set diamond pavé orbs with fluted detail in 14K gold. The diamond pavé has an antique finish and the necklace is secured with a spring hinged clasp.

Snakelet Necklace with links that mimic a weaving snake, intertwining seamlessly into one another. Handmade in 14K yellow gold and secured with a clasp hidden within an elegant frame detail.
