(PRESS RELEASE) In honor of International Women’s Day (March 8th), Georg Jensen announces the 1st annual celebration of its female designers. To debut this new initiative, they will be re-introducing the designs of the iconic Danish designer, Nanna Ditzel (1923-2005), who gained international fame for her daring and forward-thinking work across furniture, textile, and jewelry design.
Known for her keen interest in materiality and an experimental approach, Ditzel remains one of the most prolific creative minds of the Scandinavian mid-century movement, with countless innovative designs to her name. She was also the first woman to ever design for Georg Jensen.
Presented as part of the archive collection, with a particular focus on voluminous, show-stopping designs—the Nanna Ditzel capsule collection will include some of her most recognizable designs in silver, as well as some lesser — known pieces in 18kt yellow gold. The sterling silver series will feature two sets of earrings, a brooch, a cocktail ring, a striking oversized bangle, and a bracelet and necklace set, while the gold selection will include earrings and a necklace. The designs reveal Ditzel’s affinity for crafting organic forms that complement the natural shape of the body, while creating striking, sculptural silhouettes that exude the simple elegance that defined the mid-century aesthetic.
The collection will be available for purchase for limited time only throughout 2021.
